In general, people try to avoid difficult situations as much as possible. However, achieving success through difficulty can be rewarding. Sure, we want to avoid struggling as much as possible since it’s not fun. The problem with this approach is that you can benefit from making mistakes.

Stress fortifies several parts of the human body that are otherwise anti-fragile.

For instance, being physically active has great effects on your health. Also, being moderately hot or cold is beneficial to your well-being. There are even benefits to fasting.

Similarly, overcoming adversity improves your character and personality traits.

Think about the upsides of taking a risk:

1. When you face challenges, you discover more about who you are. Sitting on the couch and watching the same movie over and over again doesn’t teach you much about who you are. Your tendency to coast increases when things are going well. Challenges put your determination, resourcefulness, and fortitude to the test.

2. You can learn from your mistakes. “Failure” is a common outcome of struggles. Applying the right mindset can make failure a potent tool. You can’t learn to turn setbacks into opportunities for growth if you never face challenges.

Everyone who achieves great success has setbacks. They are also adept at learning from setbacks and overcoming them.

Failure isn’t as devastating as you imagined, and you can learn that from this experience as well.

3. Resilience is a skill that can be honed. Most people will give up quickly and not after a long effort. Perseverance is a skill that may be honed through any difficult circumstance.

If you persist in achieving your objectives, you will almost certainly succeed.

4. Self-control is necessary. Doing things the right way is essential for overcoming obstacles. When faced with difficult tasks, it’s natural to put them off until later. Doing the difficult thing requires discipline.

5. Your mental fortitude grows. You can get mentally stronger through adversity. Some people’s minds are more delicate than others because they’ve had it easy. Developing mental toughness is something that can only be accomplished by individuals who have been through harsh times.

Imagine a person you know who has had it easy. What level of difficulty do you anticipate?

6. Your belief in yourself grows. When you overcome obstacles, you gain confidence and believe you can do anything. Confidence and power wash over you. Confronting challenges head-on builds confidence.

7. The flavor of victory is more pleasant. Achieving small wins doesn’t make a difference. The more you go through adversity, the sweeter the victory feels. Finishing a marathon without much effort isn’t nearly as rewarding as finishing the last seven miles with gusto.

8. Your self-esteem has become stronger. Your sense of self-worth will be boosted by fighting for what you believe in, particularly if you succeed. When everyone else would have given up, it feels nice to know that you were willing to keep going.

Those who overcome challenges are people we look up to. When you triumph against adversity, you’ll also come to appreciate yourself more.

9. In contrast, all of life’s other difficulties appear insignificant. Even little things can cause tension for those who never strive. Individuals who have endured adversity tend to handle challenges with composure. Every now and then, you need a little challenge to remind you that the easy life isn’t that bad.

You Can Benefit from Adversity!

Some things really do make us stronger, as the old saying goes.

You develop and acquire greater competence when you face adversity.

Your self-assurance, mental fortitude, and gratitude for life can all improve as a result.

Do not be afraid to face difficulties head-on. But use your energy carefully and be smart.

It is true that certain challenges are more valuable than others.

Discover significant challenges in your life that you can overcome, and you will reap the rewards!

The post Achieving Success Through Difficulty appeared first on Create the Best Life.

A reaction to life challenges can be an automatic, ego-driven response that only considers the immediate result.

Reactions make you feel better, but they don’t solve the problem.

Responding is different. It is a wise and realistic move that takes into account the effects that this course of action will have in the long run.

People who react have difficulty and are recognized for making decisions on the spur of the moment.

Those that do something about it have fewer problems to deal with in life. The most difficult life challenges you face are almost always the result of your actions.

Consider the following scenario to understand better the distinction between reacting and responding:

Imagine for a moment that your superior is an awful person. At work today, he criticizes you for something that is not your responsibility.

He refers to you in a derogatory manner. He believes that you are a useless member of the workforce.

You walk out of the office fuming and confident that you simply can’t take any more of the situation.

As a possible response to this predicament, you may resign from your job while you’re on top.

The following day, you confront him head-on and reveal your true feelings for him.

You could even spit in his eye, step on his foot, and force your resignation letter down his throat if you wanted to get his attention.

But when you go home, you find out that the job market is competitive, that you have no funds, and that there are no employment opportunities for you.

The appropriate response to this circumstance could be anything along these lines:

You conclude that you need to look for new employment.

You are putting together your resume.

You go out to everyone you know in the hopes that they either currently hold or know of a position that would be acceptable for you.

You get in touch with a recruiter and make them aware that you are in the market for a job.

You also make some financial preparations in advance by reducing the amount you spend on unnecessary items and putting some money away.

One of these choices is not well thought out and could have negative consequences. The other demonstrates both reflection and reasoning.

The first path is likely to fail, while the second path is likely to lead to achievement.

How can you increase the likelihood of your success when confronted with life challenges?

If you follow this approach, you will be better able to respond rather than react to situations:

1. Get Your Balance Back. When your feelings are running high, it might be challenging to maintain your intelligence, rationality, and practicality.

Never, ever, ever make a significant choice while you aren’t feeling level-headed and collected. Just take as much time as you need. Consider it carefully. Think about the choices you have.

2. Determine What The Issue Is. What exactly is the problem that requires a solution from you?

Consider the aspects of your life that you would like to alter.

You should steer clear of changing many other things that could have a detrimental effect on your life.

In the scenario described above, you would escape from working for your boss, but your income would also be significantly altered.

3. Be Certain About The Result That You Want To Achieve. Considering the outcome you want to achieve is of equal importance.

Even though you may detest your employment, you aren’t primarily motivated to quit it. You’re going to want to choose a decent landing spot, too.

4. Make an Intelligent Plan. Develop a strategy that addresses the problem at hand and enables you to achieve the desired result.

Only by reacting can the initial problem be resolved. It does not produce a very satisfying result. A good plan does both.

5. Put That Plan Into Action. Use your plan. Many people are good at formulating strategies, but they never follow through and implement those strategies.

You don’t want to count yourself among those individuals, do you? Try out your strategy and see how it works out in practice.

Finding the Best Method to Overcome Life Challenges!

If you are the type of person that reacts to the difficulties that arise in your life, then you are already aware of the additional difficulties that this might bring.

The proverb “out of the frying pan and into the fire” describes this situation perfectly.

When you’re feeling unhappy, it’s best to avoid making decisions. Take some time to relax first.

Then you should think carefully about the best method to eliminate that obstacle from your life in a way that will leave you in a better position than when you began.

In the last post, Build A Resilient Spirit to Overcome Adversity, we described how to build a resilient spirit to overcome adversity. Today we are going to talk about building resilience so that we can overcome any challenge.

Here is a list of some of the things that can keep us mentally weak and stop us from building resilience.

Being Stuck in the Past

You will not be able to recover from a setback when you keep thinking about mistakes in the past.

In fact, you may be hurt, which is a normal way to feel under the circumstances.

You have probably devoted a lot of time, energy, and even money to a business or relationship.

When they fail it feels like it was all unimportant. Yes, it is painful. Still, you need to be able to move on.

Moving on is the only right choice you can make out of the many different options you might have available to you.

Other choices will only make you stay attached to something that is gone forever. Your ex may be gone or they might come back.

However, that should not be an objective for you right now. You will only stay angry which will stir up negative emotions when you keep trying to reconcile with your ex.

This is especially a problem if they aren’t interested in being with you. You can’t force people to stay.

If they are not interested in you anymore, you are going to have to move on with your life.

For example, if JK Rowling had wallowed in misery over her divorce it is possible that the Harry Potter books would never have been written.

She is an example of someone who had a major challenge in her life and was able to find a way of building resilience and as a result, became a successful author.

Don’t be Pessimistic About the Future

If you are one of those people who look at the future and only see doom and gloom you will not be resilient to challenges.

In fact, you will most likely want to crawl into your shell and contemplate the past because you don’t see any hope for the future.

There is no rule that says the remainder of your life cannot be better than all you have achieved so far. It is just not time to tell your life story.

People who are early bloomers can struggle when they encounter major setbacks.

That is because they are afraid that they won’t be able to achieve success again.

There are people who feel they were too quick to fulfill their potentials and as a result have nothing left to give. This is just not true.

As long as you keep looking for ways to better yourself, you will always be able to surpass your achievements.

Do You Have Weak Self-Efficacy?

People who lack resilience do not believe in their capability to succeed after a setback.

Often it is a long road back to improvement, especially when we face tough times because of something that we did wrong.

However, we can rewrite history but taking new steps towards our goals.

When we don’t give up on ourselves, we can move forward to something better.

Remember Colonel Sander’s story? It is never too late to start over and it is never too late to make changes that can lead you to success.

You might not get people to give you a second chance, but that doesn’t mean you should give up on yourself.

Perhaps you get written off by family and friends. What is important is that you don’t give up on yourself.

If you keep doing what you need to do to be successful, your critics and doubters might see you in a different light.

That might not happen. But nevertheless, as long as you believe in yourself and your abilities, you have a much better chance of meeting your goals.

Lacking the Right Relationships

It is true that it is much easier to bounce back from difficulty when you have the right people supporting you.

Admittedly, having determination is a vital ingredient that can help a person stand their ground even when faced with strong opposition.

However, you also need your loved ones with you.

Just remember that it is easier to believe you can get through challenging times when you have people around you who offer encouragement and support.

We can’t deny that support from friends and families isn’t important. It can be crushing to see that you have no one by your side with you are facing a challenge.

You may feel rejected and lonely which is going to make it very difficult for you to be able to find a way of building resilience.

The people in our lives give us the strength we need to overcome difficult situations.

When the people we care about end up turning their backs on us we are going to struggle. However, having sincere relationships can see us through.

Having a Lack of Focus

Keeping focused during hard times is easier said than done. Nevertheless, you will need it to find your way out of an emotional mess if you want to recover.

One thing you might consider doing for yourself and take some time and find a distraction-free place to create a new plan of action.

One of the best ways of maintaining your focus is to set new goals.

Goals give us a sense of purpose as well as direction.

It is important to understand that setting a new goal isn’t just about writing out the things you want to achieve.

Rather, it is important to understand there are skills you may need to learn that can make your process successful.

Your goals will need to be specific and measurable. As well, they should be relevant to you, they need to be achievable, and within a certain timeframe.

Once your goals include these qualities, you will be on the right path.

Let Go of Comparison

When you try to compare yourself to other people who you feel are better than you, you set yourself up to fail.

When you compare yourself with people that you perceive are below your level, you also set yourself up to fail.

Neither form of these comparisons is healthy.

In fact, any type of comparison to other people hinders you from being able of building resilience.

The Superpower of Resilience Video:

Final Thoughts:

Nobody wants to be seen as mentally weak, in fact, we all want to be resilient and overcome any challenge. However, this doesn’t always happen.

We may find that there are barriers to building resilience that can stop our success.

When we are committed to finding how to overcome those barriers, we are more apt to be able to move forward after a setback.

As a result, we have a much better chance of finding success.
